The game as it stands now

With only a month or so to go till release, I think it's about time I release an update on the game in general.

So hey everyone, it's me, Ved Rane. Let me show you what's been happening behind the scenes to bring you this wonderful experience.

LEVELS UPDATE:

Instead of 300, the game will have around 150. For a couple of reasons:

Though 300 is completable, 150 will be done quicker, leaving more room to polish and design and release to mobile.

As per tests done, the average beginner would take about 35-60 minutes on the first 60 levels, which is considerably good.

But obviously, it's not about time. It's about the game itself. So what about that?

GAME UPDATES:

There's space for a few more unique worlds before the final boss battle. I've also added a few mini levels (which dont belong to any specific world). I've designed some concepts for the final battle which I'm pretty happy with it.

With concepts and designs, to a point, completed, the game is in a good stage.

MUSIC UPDATES:

Many of you have enjoyed the music samples of Bubblegum Backlands I uploaded to YouTube, which really makes me happy :D (and if any of you are wondering, yes, I use a real guitar). All these songs are in the game and allocated to their specific world. I'll make a few more songs for future levels too.

New Update - When testing the whole game with my family and colleagues, one of the feedback was to make the  music more exciting and funkier. To be fair, they weren't wrong. It didn't fit the style. So I had to replace all the music for the game.  I am using free music from Commercial Audio Library but intend to update it with my own music once i learn more exciting and funkier notes on my guitar.

PROMO UPDATES:

I really do not have much to say about this. People definitely know about the game, but not at a big scale...or even a medium scale. I am researching techniques on how to market this, considering I dont want to spend money on promotion.

FINAL NOTES:

Bubblegum Backlands is in a good state. I am surprised how far I've come and cant wait to move forward. And it's thanks to all of you guys.

Thank you for supporting me and what I do, and allowing me to make games to give to you all.

This is off-topic, but as a kid, I would always think it'd be cool to make a game but I didnt know how to or even want to. I would make concepts but barely execute them. I thought being a game developer would take lots of years of learning, training and school, and I would need fancy equipment.

I learned to make games (and other stuff) in less than a year on a pretty good (but not industrial) computer with Unity. If you had told my younger self this, he'd be shocked.

Thanks for helping me on my journey.

Stay cool B)
